The Xiaomi Pad 6 cover aims to offer a straightforward yet effective solution to protect your tablet. This review will delve into the features and design aspects of the Xiaomi Pad 6 cover, focusing on its ability to provide reliable protection and convenience for your tablet.

Intelligent Wake-up System, Lightweight and Slim Design, Magnetically Connects for Stable Support
Unboxing & Design:
The packaging is simple. The rear part of the box shows you how to put the case on.

Unboxing is also a straightforward affair. The cover comes with foam inside.

Finally here’s a full view of the inside of the case laid out.

Apologies for the image distortion. I had another picture but this was actually quality. Moving on.
Putting the cover on the Xiaomi Pad 6 is easy – the case attaches to the back magnetically so there is no clamping or adjustment needed. Just make sure to align the camera. The Smart Pen dock is on the open/uncovered side of the cover and the overall setup looks like this.

The material of the case is nice~ to feel, feels like leather but it’s PU. It’s probably not going to last long but it offers decent protection from scuffs and scratches. Also, the ability to dock the Smart Pen 2 with the case on is welcome.
The cover has next to no raised lip for the camera lens- so if you’re concerned about protecting the camera lens you might wanna keep the tablet face down instead.

There is no issue in using the buttons with the cover on as they are on the open side of the cover. The four speakers are also usable as they don’t get covered by it.

Usage & Experience:
I would call out the different features of the Pad 6 Cover apart from protection here. Starting with, opening the cover the tablet wakes up from sleep mode. Here’s an image from the official Xiaomi Website.

The tablet also goes to sleep if you shut the cover. This is useful and honestly, should be a minimum from a flap cover these days.
Secondly, the cover allows you to use the tablet in two positions: Upright and Slant. You essentially fold up the cover in the shape of a triangle behind the tablet. Here’s what upright looks like.

This position allows you to consume videos the best. You could even join conference calls in this position.
I’ll also take this opportunity to point out some of the flaws of the cover. Observe the area below the clock on the screen, in the image above. You can see a straight~ line. Using the cover results in leaving marks on the screen in the form of two straight lines. These aren’t permanent but they’re annoying nonetheless.
Another problem with this position to use the tablet is – I can’t use it on the bed in this position. The triangular support doesn’t stand well enough and the tablet falls on its back. This is a huge bummer as my bed is where I’m using the tablet most.
This position, however, is stable enough to be used on a flat table. You could take video calls as well and the camera is centred. One minor issue is that because of the angle & position of the tablet, your camera viewers will get a lower-angle view of your face (Hint: Nose View)
The slant position looks like this.

One thing to note about this position is, because the Smart Pen dock facing end is now towards the surface, you can’t dock your pen there anymore.
This is a comfortable position to either do some writing, drawing or note-taking. I also wonder that’s why the pen cannot be docked because anyway, it might be in your hand. But great that Xiaomi allows you to attach it on the other end without charging.
Note: Do not attempt to pull or carry the Pad 6 by the flap of the cover- because attached magnetically it is possible for the tablet to detach and drop. Not that the magnetic strength is weak here, I have practically rarely faced this but something to note for sure.
A closing note on usage: When shutting the cover on the screen, it magnetically closes on it – sometimes the magnetic strength here is quite a lot and it’s like the cover is almost slamming the screen 😅.
Verdict
At a price of ₹1,499 (USD18~) the cover is decent for most people. Offering features like wake-up, slant and upright positions. No obtrusions on buttons or speakers and allowing the Smart Pen 2 to dock are welcome.
My main gripes would be the inability to stand upright on a bed surface, the cover literally slamming on the screen when shutting softly & the cover leaving trail marks on the tablet. The materials of the cover also don’t seem promising, it’s definitely not premium.
I’d have also liked to see some colour options offered by Xiaomi but you can only get one colour in this.
Despite the cons, it’s easy to recommend this because of the low price point & basic features offered. I reckon one can even easily replace this cover after a few months or years of usage with some alternative.
